What you need to know before, during and after receiving a Covid-19 vaccine

COVID-19 vaccines are effective at protecting you from getting sick. Vaccination is an important tool to help us get back to normal. This information will help you prepare for your COVID-19 vaccination.

Before getting vaccinated

• Bring passport and social security insurance card (if any) and add “Mor-Prom” Line Official account to present hospital staff
• Avoid heavy workout or weight lifting. Take enough rest, stay in good health and stay calm
• Can drink coffee or tea before vaccination but avoid alcohol on appointment date
• Wear loose or short sleeves that can be rolled up easily
• No sickness or fever on appointment date
• Have daily meal and medicine as usual. Avoid prescription drugs used for migraine e.g. Cafergot or Relpax
• If you have high blood pressure, take medicine before vaccination
• Patient who have immunodeficiency disease and having Immunosuppressant drugs or chemotherapy drug or had organ transplant but not treated at Nakornthon Hospital must bring medical certificate from hospital you treated to approve you can receive the vaccine
• People taking anticoagulants can take the medicine as usual. Inform the nurse what kind of medicine you are taking If you are taking. If you are taking Warfarin, you should bring your INR test results within 1 week (which requires <4 to be vaccinated) or request a medical certificate to approve you can receive the vaccine and bring it on the day of the vaccination

During the appointment

• Show up earlier at least 30 minutes before appointment time with your identity document, health information, confirmation in “Mor Prom” application
• Wear loose or short sleeves that can be rolled up easily. There is no right or wrong choice in choosing the arm but not preferred arm is suggested
• Body temperature and blood pressure check before vaccinate
• Tell the doctor before vaccinate if you have congenital disease with routine medicine or taking Immunosuppressant Drugs or Vasopressors for example Ergotamine for migraine

After you’ve been vaccinated

• Stay in an observation area for 30 minutes. Tell medical staff if any side effect appears for example sudden weakness in the arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body, face drop, or difficult to speak
• Avoid heavy use for vaccinated arm side for 2 days
• You can take 1 tablet of Paracetamol 500mg if you have mild fever. Another tablet in next 6 hours. Do not take Brufen, Arcoxia, or Celebrex
• Self- monitoring at home for 48-72 hours. Severe side effects, while very rare, are most likely to appear in the first 30 minutes after being vaccinated. Return hospital if high fever, sudden weakness in the arm, or leg, especially on one side of the body

Before you leave your first vaccination appointment, make sure you know the date of the second
